Our trip consisted of a 3 and 1/2 week trip to Central Europe. We flew into Amsterdam and spent two full days there before we took an overnight train to Munich, Germany where we dined on homemade sausages and lots of potatoes. We also took a day trip to the Dackau Concentration Camp. I wanted to experience for myself the horror that humans can do to each other, and I am still sick to my stomach over the evil that took place there. We then hopped on another train and went to the Czech Republic where we visited a medieval town, the architecturally beautiful city of Prague, and then to Brno where we visited former co-workers of Matt's from when he had an intership over 8 years ago. Our next stop was pristine Salzburg where we sang the "hills are alive" with the Sound of Music Tour, and listened to a Mozart concert in the Castle that overlooked the enitre city. The last country we visited was Italy, where we were serenaded in a gondola, and got lost in the many alleyways and canals that Venice is famous for. The city of Florence itself we could take or leave, minus the fact that the greats are all housed there. Michelangelo's perfection we all know and love as "David" which gave me goosebumps upon the sight of it, DaVinci's "Spring" which has a humourous undertone to it, in my opinion anyway. And not to mention more masterpieces by Botticelli, Birnini, Donatello, and Raphael. Escaping the city we took a wine tour through Chianti Country where we immersed ourselves in the thousand year old vineyard that was ready to harvest, with wine and bread and cheese, before we took another train over to my absolutely by far favorite place, Rome. The Colleseum and ruins were amazing. To see these ancient, demolished structures that were constructed years before Christ was born is just awe-inspiring to me. And then to top off our trip, we got to see first hand the power of the Pope and the 8 languages that he can speak, in the glory of St.Peters Cathedral. Holy Crap!!!!!!!!

I'm so jealous! What an awesome long-awaited, extended "honeymoon" you had. It must be nice to get away like that... You need to get an online photo album going so we can see the best of these pics! (Picasa is one of the best sites, I think). I'm so happy you were finally able to do this! But now that you're back, I want to see you!!!!!
Wow! What a trip to make, I hope we get to Europe someday. I really miss you around here! If you have a minute check out my husbands website, it's linked on my blog. He uses a flickr template, which is great for showing lots of pictures on a blog. I will use it for Thea's birthday. Thanks for the comments on the blog!
Holy crap is right!!! I got lost in St. Peters it was so amazing, my tour group almost left me! What about the Pieta?! Would love to see your photos. Have a great week!
Europe is so amazing, isn't it! I loved Rome too. I remember Venice pretty well since riding the gonala was quite interesting with Jocelyn singing "Rolling down the River". It was funny. I can't wait to catch up sometime soon!
Sounds amazing!! Happy anniversary to you both!!
