Betsy's Birthday and Hunting

This week has been a fun-filled one. Monday night we celebrated my little sister Betsy's birthday where we met my brother and his family at the Winter Inn in Greenville for a nice dinner. Tuesday Matt and I went to site in the guns for opening day of gun season, yes I said "we," but I'll get to that in a second. For those in Florida who will be reading this, opening day of gun season is considered a holiday for some schools and industries in the state of Michigan, this stems from the fact that most students and employees end up taking the 15th off anyhow to go deer hunting, so the state decided that it would be more beneficial to make it a holiday. Very cool if you ask me. So, back to the gun siting, I shot a gun for the very first time ever. It was a 20 gauge shot gun, Matt's father's gun, so it is pretty primitive to those today. I was anxious, and totally scared out of my mind, but I did it, and I hit the target each time. I thought maybe I would take the gun out, but I decided against it because I am not quite comfortable enough with it, we don't need any stupid-girl accidents. So, Thursday morning Matt and I got up at 4:30am to get dressed in our camo geer, bundle up in warm clothes, and head out to the back of his mother's woods to shoot that 30-point buck. I woke up feeling extremely under the weather, but went out anyhow. We set up our spot along a fence row with fresh deer tracks and poo, but not one single deer! It was so cold, it even snowed and rained, at about 8:15 am I had enough, so I went back to the house to sleep off my cold but Matt continued the great hunt for the 30-point buck. It was all in vain, no bucks, no does, not one deer! But, this morning at 8:00 am my dad shot a 4-point out at the very spot where Matt and I got married. Yeah, meat in the freezer!

Ugh- I have lived in the city for too long and I never liked venison. Congrats on shooting a gun, and having the guts to do it! I hope you are feeling better!

All around fun! Wish I could've been around for B's b-day.

You are the hottest in that orange hat and yay for venison when I'm home for Christmas!

I'm impressed! You shot a gun and went deer hunting! Ben has been wanting me to do that for years. Maybe I'll have to finally give it a try. :)
