60th Birthday

October 19th through the 22nd was spent in Michigan on Long Lake in a modern 2 story cabin with the Ferguson Family, the Upton Family, and Grandma Betty Hicks to celebrate the twins 60th birthday. Matt and I flew in late on Thursday night and we got a quick visit in with Mom and Dad Myers, and Betsy and Kayden. Kayden and I visited the whole way back to the Lakehouse from the airport. We talked about coyotes and dinosaurs, Kayden has quite the imagination and it was so darn cute. Early Friday morning we arrived at Momma Upton's and waited anxiously for the rest of the immediate family to arrive for the surprise. The surprise being, a family get-away to a cabin on Long Lake near Frankfort, MI. We spent Friday exploring the cabin, and the lake, played Eucre and ate each meal together. Saturday we took a late morning pontoon ride on the lake it was so smooth, and the air was crisp and it smelled just like fall, we miss the season changes, especially fall. We were the only ones out there since it was about 45 degrees, and the color was gorgeous. Beautiful red, yellow, and orange leaves. It was a bit chilly towards the wind, but facing the sun was just perfect. On our way back to the dock, the pontoon stalled, and Becky, Kenny, and Matt had to pull us to the nearest dock. Of course it was the house with the longest walk from the water. 182 steps up to the nearest phone, and Grandma Betty did it without a hitch! After the twins went to find some help, no cell service up there so cells were useless, a kind lady drove two back across the lake to the cabin to get the van to drive us all back home! It was a detour from the plans, but we all made the best of it! Saturday night we had Asian cusine at a place called, The Fusion, it was yummy, if anyone is up in Frankfort, check it out. Sunday we tidied up and headed home, it had been a beautiful weekend, but Sunday it rained the whole drive. It was a very special, and memorable trip.

Kate!! How exciting that must have been for all of you, even with the mishaps along the way. I miss fall too, I would love a boat ride/color viewing session right about now. So, weird but, I've actually at at The Fusion in Frankfort! Andy Minnink's grandma lives right on Lake MI up there and Jess, Andy, Shane and I took a trip up there one weekend, (back in the day) and enjoyed a great dinner there. Crazy! That area is gorgeous! I'm glad yo got to experience it too. See you in two weeks love! Meg
