Jamaica

This past Friday, we attended the student auction at my work. This was the weekend we were supposed to go to California for Blum's wedding, but that didn't work out. The auction is held for the graduate students for travel and internship funding. We went last year and I won a peti, mani, and facial for $40 and we had a really good time, they have volunteer auctioneers that are usually faculty members or staff members, and they are really funny, so this year Matt and I were looking forward to attending. I can't forget to mention that there are free drinks and shots too, we spent the evening chatting with friends and listening to the many hilarious comments on the auctioneer stand all the while enjoying the free libations. The last block of items to auction off are usually the items that most people stick around for. After an evening of drinks, I was feeling pretty good, and thought I would bid on a trip to Jamaica, unbeknowst to Matt. Needless to say, I won a 5 night, 4 day stay for two in Negril, Jamaica with breakfast included. When Matt returned to the bidding area and realized that we won, he was not entirely happy. After much persuasion that it was a good deal, and the trip is like a honeymoon we never took, I think he is okay about it. Bottom-line, don't take Kate to an auction with free drinks.

Kate, That is completely awesome!! God works in funny ways and finally decided it was time for you two to take that honeymoon that never happened!!!! Matt will appreciate it in the end ;) Have fun and be safe and enjoy every single minute of it!
It was a bummer that we couldn't see you when you came home for the twins' birthday, but family comes first! I'm really happy that you and Matt were able to experience a bit of the autumn weather that you two miss out on. It must've been a heavenly change from the norm in Miami. I'm sad I missed you two, but hope to see you soon! Tell Matt I said HI!
Take care and have a fantastic trip!
Much love, Dawn

The trip to Jamaica sounds awesome, and you kept saying you were going to take a honeymoon eventually! It sounds like something that Kyle would do, and I would react similar to Matt :)

Kyle talked to his buddies this weekend that were at Blum's wedding (they were all enjoying L.A.) and I thought of you and Matt at the wedding...but I guess not! Glad you had fun family weekend before, and I here you on the fall colors--we didn't realize how much we missed it when we were in Tulsa until we are back surrounded by it again! Love, Melissa
