Thursday evening we received a highly anticipated call from our real estate agent Lori. Finally, after two weeks of negotiations, we got the house! Matt and I are so excited, it's ridiculous, the closing date of June 7th can't come quick enough! Right now I am in the process of scheduling inspections, and obtaining insurance quotes, provided that everything goes smoothly we will have purchased our first home in a little over a month and a half! This excitement carried right into the weekend as well.
Friday evening my mom and I went to a Lia Sophia jewelry party at my cousin Molly's house in Portland. What a gorgeous house! It's right outside of town, off of a private dirt road, across from the river, for those of you from Portland, it's right off the road where Randy Janiczek's parents live or used to live when I was in college. The property has woods, and the river, and the house is very homey, but contemporary. I won a piece of jewelry called a slider, so of course I had to purchase a chain to go with it!
Saturday Matt and I ran some much needed, and put off errands around DeWitt, and then that afternoon we signed more papers for the house! Mom and Dad were having some friends over for dinner, so we got to chat and visit for a little bit before heading out to Trippers to celebrate Becky Ferguson's engagement. The ring is gorgeous, it is antique, filigree style, with a solitaire diamond, and saphire stones around the band, very unique. She was just glowing, and you can't help but feel her excitement! Another surprise was that Rhonda drove down from Traverse City for the party, so we got to see her too!
Unfortunately, we had to leave the party early, as Matt needed to prepare himself for one of the toughest races yet.
Bob Cooper (Dawn's fiance), Matt Remus, and our Matt drove down to Pinckney early Sunday for a half marathon, trail race. Matt was prepared, he ran 12 miles in Central Park the weekend before, and then he ran another 12 miles on Wednesday. Although he prepared himself, apparently the trail was very hilly and rocky, which made for very difficult terrain. Matt did great, he ran the race in 2 hours and 2 minutes. I am so proud of him. This is all part of his training to hike up 5 summits in Colorado in September (all 13000 footers). He will make it just fine in Colorado!
While Matt was running, we went over to the Grand Rapids area for my niece Sara's first Communion. She was so pretty! She looked like a little flowergirl in a wedding. She had on a white satin dress with lace cutouts, dotted with a few sequins, a flower headpiece and veil with ribbons, her hair was up with ringlets, little white shoes with a tiny, chunky heal, and white satin gloves completed the ensemble. She was really happy to have her family there for her big day. We had refreshments and visiting afterwards at Sean and Susan's. That night I made it back to Lorraine's just in time to see the movie No Country for Old Men. Wow, it was intense, I'm actually still replaying it over in my head, as I'm not sure what to make of it yet, except that the actors were very talented. I do suggest watching it to form your own opinion and especially because it was nominated for so many oscars.
Well, that's the latest. .

What a loaded entry!! Your first house!!!! Yea!! I know you really liked that house, so I am very excited for you. As for the Portland party you went to...the Janiczek's still live there, so I know the area you're talking about. It's very pretty. Tell Matt I said congrats on the run. That sounds intense. You two are very busy people, but you are always having a great time! Hopefully we can catch up soon!
Congratulations!!! Awesome to own your own home. We just became home owners too! I already did the inspections and insurance, we are starting on renovations. I will be blogging about that a lot, in the future! Maybe we can compare notes :)
YEAH!!! Matt told me Sunday it looked like a go... after no word from you ;) I can't wait to see... If you need help with absolutely anything, let me know and Bob and I will be there!
No Country for Old Men... Not great enough to remember, definitely not worth it to rent again... we've told people to save their money... Now, if you want some good laughs... Rent Juno, it'll put a smile on your face!
Loveyou!!! See you this weekend!
Congrats Kate! This is so exciting about the house. Love the updates.
