Tis the Season

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! I can't believe that in just 3 short days we will be celebrating 2008! What a year it has been for Matt and I. We are so blessed to have close friends and family and would not be where we are today without you all! As for an update on all the parties we've attended I will start with last Friday. I met one of my old college roomies and her friend for dinner at Mitchell's Fish Market, they are both attending the medical school at MSU, and they had their last exam for the year, so we had cocktails and some oysters on the half shell, it is always nice to catch up. Afterwards I drove into St. Johns for a Christmas party that my friend Miss Pertler always has before things get too crazy with the holidays. It was nice to imbibe with friends new and old. Matt and I rushed off by 11:00 pm so that we could make it back to Rainbow for some late night chatting with my sister Megan since she just flew in from NYC. Saturday we drove to Howard City to watch our friend Seth Sutton play stand-up base with his band, The Radiators. They play folk type music, it was very entertaining to watch, we didn't realize how far Howard City really is until the drive home where we rolled into bed around 3:30 am. Sunday morning we awoke bright and early where we attended the Lowe Church service with Lorraine (Matt's mom) her boyfriend Loren, and sister Rhonda. Lorraine always decorates the church for Christmas, and of course this year was no different, she and her sister came up with a beautiful Poinsettia display behind the altar. After church we were off to celebrate Christmas on the Hicks side, where we opened hilarious white elephant gifts, and enjoyed company that we normally do not see but once or twice a year. That evening it was back to the Lakehouse for clam bisque, bruschetta, and desert wine with all the siblings and my parents. We opened wonderful gifts and then had a little slumber party where we all went through our stockings in the morning. Sean, Susan, and kids had to rush off because they had been out of power from the night before when the wind storm went through. They actually had their chicken coop destroyed, as well as damage to the roof on the house and barn. Christmas Eve day we headed over to Lorraine's where we ate more yummy food, attended another church service where my sister Megan sang, and then fell fast asleep to awake with Christmas Quiche and Mimosas and Snowshoes! Christmas day dinner was at the Lakehouse with the Underwoods, and it ended with all of us falling asleep watching my all time favorite movie, White Christmas. The next day I met my other college roomies at P.F. Changs where we talked for hours, then off to Pontiac where we went Tobogganing with the Simons and Upton Family, it was a blast, and we ended with more food of course. The days just keep going too, and I know I'll have much more to tell after New Year's! But, before I end, if there is anyone out there that reads my blog that happens to know Matt and Michele Underwood, and has the first name of Heather, write a comment and tell me how you found our blog. Thanks!
