Last week I got a big box delivered to my door from our mail lady, it was a present for Niles filled to the brim with clothes, blankets, socks, onesies, and other goodies from RSMAS administration, I couldn't believe all of the items packed in the box, there was so much, and they are all so cute! What an amazing, sweet, wonderful present from my old work. I miss you guys! I can't wait to come back and visit, I think I am planning a December visit with Matt, and we are bringing Niles too! Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone!
This weekend we ventured out on Friday to our friend's cold and rainy BBQ for his sister who was in town from Texas. She was surprised and happy to see everyone, and even more surprised that we all our having children, it was very weird for her she said! I seconded that. Did I have to pump you are all wondering? Why yes, and my friend Kellee Mac let me borrow her Medela double pump that has adjustments, so I was able to pump in a timely fashion! After the party we even went grocery shopping with the wee one. Quite a feat, and I wasn't stressed at all! Then on Saturday our friend Angie came to visit bringing more goodies of food and gifts. It was so fun to catch up with her and hear all about the crazy times she has been having. I haven't had one of those in over 9 months:) Although, that night I was able to slip away for a few hours to Kim's bachelorette party (Brandon Warner's fiance). It was a lot of fun, and again I didn't stress about pumping or if my baby was okay. It felt so good to go out put on some new makeup, and have a glass of wine with friends, I didn't realize how much I missed it! I got home just in time for Matt to head out to his bachelor party for cousin Becky's fiance Steve. He had a great time for a few hours as well, and ran into the bachelorette party that I just came from, then some family members at another bar, and then friends of mine that I went to school with, wow is Lansing small! On Sunday we even made it to church and the potluck afterwards, thanks again to the pump!
Today Niles is one month old! He is just starting to coo and babble. He is taking in all of his surroundings, and you can tell when he is excited about an object because he kicks his feet and waves his arms and tries to talk to it! He can track objects from side to side. He knows the sounds of his mommy and daddy's voice, and is obsessed with ceiling fans. It must be a Myers thing huh Aunt JO? He is also the noisiest, wiggliest baby I have ever met. Tons of grunting, groaning, kicking, fists clenched, head thrusting, it's incredible!

Each month gets better and WHOA wait until the sixth month. Incredible changes will emerge. Love to you three & keep up the good and intrinsically rewarding work. Jo
Congrats Kate & Matt! Niles is precious! Take in every moment that you can, time goes by so fast, they just grow up so darn quick. Kade is already 6 years old and starting 1st grade this year. Hope all is well. Love reading your blog :)

Glad you were able to get out for a little bit on your own AND you didn't stress or worry....very impressive :) It does help to feel "alive" again and alcohol sure does taste good after 9+ months w/out it!
