Roto's Wedding/Pic Nic

This weekend was a big first weekend for us with the baby. Matt and I were asked to present gifts at the altar to the bride and groom of our very good friend Brandon Rotary and his lovely bride Becky. I struggled all week with the decision to go or stay home, and to have Matt represent the both of us. Weddings are such an important event in our lives, and I just couldn't miss this for Brandon. So after a chaotic morning of getting all three of us ready, my mom helping too, we made it to the church before the ceremony started! Mom stayed in the back with Niles, and he didn't make a peep the whole time! Good job baby! While Matt headed off to the reception, mom, grandma and Niles had to make an emergency stop on the way home to pump and eat. Thank goodness for auntie Rachel! I got to meet her boyfriend Joe briefly, hopefully the next encounter will be less stressful, and I can actually hold a conversation with him! After an hour and a half later, we were back in the car on our way home.

Sunday Grandma had a picnic for the Underwood family because cousins Mary Lisa and Troy were in town for a short time. But before we left we had a few visitors. Cousins Abe, Cortney, and little Cole stopped by, and then Mary, Glen, and little Salem too. By the time we got to my mom's it was feeding time again, and I pretty much missed most of the visiting. After lots of hand washing and passing the boy around to great aunts and little second cousins, I was ready to go, and the tears were starting to flow. It was too overwhelming for me as a new mother. At least I know what I can and can not handle right now. On Sunday evening aunt Rhonda came over and got to meet Niles for the first time too, she was home for a dress fitting, a practice up do, and Jen and Sherrie put together a mock up bouquet for her. she heads back to Pittsburgh today, and we will see her in a month for her wedding!

Wow, that is a VERY busy weekend for new parents and a one week old! I'm glad you survived. Things can get very overwhelming in the beginning, but luckily, people understand and help out :) You guys have been in our thoughts and we love to read the updates!

Dearest Katie Babe, The first 6 weeks after the birth of a baby is an adjustment/recuperation time. That is the reason you get that time off when employed. Hope things slow down a bit for you three soon. And on the other hand, we took our newborn straight to a restaurant from the hosp. Good luck with everything and hope to see you soon. Love & hugs, Auntie Jo

You are doing great keeping up with everything- thanks for reading my blog and always leaving comments.
I love the arms up picture- he looks like he's dreaming about riding roller coasters.
Those nipple covers are bad- they gave me relief with my first but also gave me thrush and a poor milk supply. If it hurts when he latches try icing first- makes everything kind of numb. I cracked and bled and cursed (in my head) while my sweet little daughter nursed for at least 3 weeks. She had a more than nasty reaction to formula so nursing was my only option.... We had major nipple confusion too. Savor him- he will only be this small for a little while.
