Hi everyone. Matt and I delivered a healthy baby boy on August 1st at 5:30 pm. 6lbs. 9oz. 19 inches long. Lots of dark hair, and cuter than all get out. Things went great up until the pushing, my medicine wore off at that point, and things were pretty much au natural. I was not to pleased with this, but handled myself well. Matt thought I would go balistic, but I internalized the pain, didn't say hardly two words, and kept my eyes shut until it was over. I am extremely sore, swollen in the whoo-ha, have a few stitches, and I am still waddling. Thought that would be over, at least I can see down below.
So, how is baby doing? Great with his little cloth diapers, he has been pooping like a champ, but the little lamby won't eat, won't latch on, so mom and dad are very frustrated, and I am all tears, though I've kept my composure this afternoon. Pea Pod cried through the entire night trying to eat, and he got frustrated too. First thing this morning after more tears, we called a lactation consultant, they are making a house call this evening. In the mean time, I have been pumping colostrum, and we have been trying to feed a little bit to him through a tube while getting him to suck on one of our fingers. Pediatrician says to supplement with a bottle, we are holding out as long as possible, but it might come to that if the consultant thing doesn't work out. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. That's our motto at the moment.
Niles also had his circumcision today, and is a little sore and out of it, this makes things sad too, once he pees we can go home, but he hasn't peed since this morning. Pee Niles pee!
When we are on a schedule I'll be more willing to post and with pictures too, but we've got to get the little pod on the right track. Wish us luck, and lots of prayers!

Congrats! The Nursing Mothers COmpanion in a GREAT book. I had every nursing problem one can imagine and I made it thru. You can do it- you have the right attitude. If you can't get it down- don't feel guilty either.
CONGRATS again!
Best,
Sidney

Congratulations!!!! Love the name and looking forward to pictures when you get settled. Way to go, Kate. The Williams family is super proud of you (and Matt).....you did it!! Try to keep a positive attitude about the nursing, it will get better, and if it doesn't, that is why there is formula. (I know, its easier said than done, especially when you are working w/a 3 day old). Sending big hugs and well wishes to the Upton family!
